Deborah Cromeans Ramos' work reflects her self-taught rural background. Her mother said she started artwork as soon as
she could hold a pencil and never stopped.
She won first place
in State Competition when she was just 13, and has won awards in Mississippi and Tennessee. She has been represented by Galleries in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee and her works have been in juried shows in Arizona, Tennessee and Mississippi. She has also been commissioned for oil portraits of prominent Senators and Political figures as well as private
clients. Most of her career limited her art production while she worked in the fields of architecture and landscape design.
Only recently has she been able to concentrate full time on art. "Always I have felt close ties to nature and the earth so landscapes are very important to me.
Portraits are one of my favorite subjects because of the great challenge to capture the spirit inside the eyes. I paint for
the pleasure it gives me in the act and also in the brightened faces of my clients as they see their paintings for the first
time." "My philosophy is
very simple- everything
has energy, spirit, as well as form and I want to capture as much as I can on canvas while expressing the sheer joy I feel
seeing and working with this beautiful world around us. My biggest
hope is that my clients will share that joy when they see my work. If I have done that, then anything else is icing on the
cake and I am very grateful indeed."
